Central Government Designates Competent Authorities for Madhya Pradesh Railway Project Land Acquisition

The Ministry of Railways issued Notification S.O. 595(E) on February 3, 2025, formally designating specific officers as Competent Authorities for land acquisition related to a crucial railway infrastructure project in Madhya Pradesh. The legislation provided: “In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (7A) of section 2 of the Railways (Amendment) Act-2008, the Central Government hereby authorised the officers nominated in column (2) of the Table below as Competent Authority to perform the function as such authority under the said act, with effect from the date of publication of this notification in the official Gazetted in respect of the Special Railway Project of Gauge conversion of Ratlam Indore Dr.Ambedkar Nagar Khandwa as a special Rail project for acquisition of land in the State of Madhya Pradesh relating to sub-Divisions mentioned in column (3) Districts mentioned in column (4) of the said table for the public purpose of execution, maintenance, management and operation of such Special Railway Project.”
