Central Government Notifies Commencement of Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Act, 2025

The Ministry of Education, Department of Higher Education, issued a Notification, S.O. 4043(E), on September 2, 2025, which was subsequently published in the Gazette of India on September 3, 2025. This instrument formally brought into effect the provisions of the Indian Institutes of Management (Amendment) Act, 2025 (Act 31 of 2025). The notification was issued in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of section 1 of the aforementioned Amendment Act. The Central Government, through this notification, appointed September 1, 2025, as the date on which the provisions of the said Act would come into force. This action ensures the operationalization of the legislative changes intended for the Indian Institutes of Management and affects all related institutions, authorities, and proceedings governed by the principal Act. The legislation provided: “the Central Government hereby appoints the 1st September, 2025 as the date on which the provisions of the said Act shall come into force.”
