Central Government Notifies Infrastructure Works in Madhya Pradesh as Special Railway Projects

The Ministry of Railways, acting through the West Central Railway’s Construction Organization, issued a formal notification on June 23, 2025, designating two significant infrastructure undertakings in the State of Madhya Pradesh as Special Railway Projects. This administrative action, published under S.O. 2786(E) in the Gazette of India, was executed by the Central Government to provide these specific rail developments with a distinct legal status under the prevailing railway statutes. The notification identifies two primary works: the construction of a 5.31-kilometer chord line (a short railway track connecting two main lines to allow through-running) between the Karhi and Sagma stations, and the development of a rail-over-rail flyover (a bridge structure designed to allow one set of tracks to cross over another without intersection) between Karhi and Kaima. The flyover project specifically covers 4.975 kilometers on the "UP" line and 6.785 kilometers on the "DN" or down line. As per the statutory instrument, these designations came into force immediately upon the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
