Delhi HC Designates 85 Advocates as Senior Advocates [Full List Here]

The Delhi High Court has conferred the designation of "Senior Advocate" on 85 advocates under Section 16(2) of the Advocates' Act, 1961. The decision follows a Resolution passed by the Full Court at its meeting held on 9th July, 2026, and was formally notified by the Secretariat of the Committee for Designation of Senior Advocate the same day.  

Delhi HC Senior Advocate Designation Process

A total of 231 candidates had applied for the Senior Advocate Designation in 2026. Their applications were assessed and marked by the Delhi High Court Committee for Designation of Senior Advocates, following which the list was placed before the Full Court for consideration. The Full Court ultimately cleared 85 names for Delhi High Court Senior Advocate. Of the 85 advocates designated, eleven are women. 

The Committee responsible for the assessment comprises Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya, Justices V Kameswar Rao and Nitin Wasudeo Sambre, Delhi High Court Bar Association (DHCBA) President N Hariharan, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) Chetan Sharma, and Senior Advocate Sanjay Jain.
