Jantar Mantar De-Notified as Protest Site as Delhi Police Designates Three New Venues

The Delhi Police has de-notified Jantar Mantar as a designated site for protests and demonstrations and designated three alternative venues: Ramlila Ground, Burari Ground and CBD Ground in East Delhi.

In an order, Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar announced the changes following recommendations made by a committee constituted by the Union Home Ministry to identify suitable alternative venues for protests and demonstrations, while ensuring citizens’ right to organise such gatherings.

Accordingly, Jantar Mantar has been removed from the list of designated protest sites. The Delhi Police has also stated that detailed and revised standard operating procedures (SOPs) governing protests and demonstrations at the three newly designated venues will be issued separately.
