The Ministry of Railways, Government of India, issued a Corrigendum, S.O. 1703(E), on April 11, 2025, to rectify an error in a previous notification concerning land acquisition. This corrigendum specifically addresses inaccuracies within the notification S.O. 1720(E), dated April 16, 2024, which pertained to the acquisition of land for the doubling of the railway track between Parli-Parbhani Stations, spanning 64.71 kilometers. The issuance of this corrigendum ensures the accuracy of official records and the legal clarity of the land acquisition process. The instrument came into force upon its publication in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii).

The core change introduced by the corrigendum involves the correction of a specific land parcel identification number. The original notification had incorrectly cited "Gut No: - 74" for land located in Taluka Gangakhed, Village Dharkhed. The corrigendum mandates that this entry "To be read as Taluka: Gangakhed Village: Dharkhed Gut.No:- 253." This precise amendment is crucial for correctly identifying the affected land parcel and ensuring that the land acquisition proceedings are directed towards the intended property. The legislation provided: “In the notification of the Government of India, Ministry of Railways published in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part II, Section 3, Sub-section (ii) Dated 16th April 2024 vide S.O. 1720(E) Dated 16th April 2024 regarding land acquisition of Doubling of Track between Parli-Parbhani Stations (64.71 Km) the Ministry of Railways hereby makes the following corrigendum as detailed below: ... Taluka: Gangakhed Village: Dharkhed Gut No: - 74. To be read as Taluka: Gangakhed Village: Dharkhed Gut.No:- 253.”

The legislative intent behind this corrigendum is to uphold the integrity and accuracy of official government notifications, particularly in matters as sensitive as land acquisition. The earlier legal position, containing the incorrect Gut number, presented a potential for ambiguity and legal challenge in the land acquisition process. By issuing this correction, the Ministry of Railways addresses a critical statutory gap, preventing potential disputes over land ownership and ensuring that compensation and other acquisition-related procedures are applied to the correct beneficiaries and properties. This amendment does not introduce new rights or obligations but rather clarifies existing ones by rectifying a factual error, thereby streamlining the enforcement mechanisms for the land acquisition project. The timely correction ensures that the development of essential infrastructure, such as the railway track doubling, can proceed without unnecessary legal impediments arising from clerical errors.
