New Speed Limits Notified for NH 148 in Jaipur District

The Office of the Collector and District Magistrate, Jaipur, issued a Notification on October 01, 2025, establishing revised maximum speed limits for vehicles on National Highway No. NH 148 (Manoharpur-Dausa section). This measure was undertaken in the wider public interest and for safety considerations, superseding a previous notification dated September 11, 2025, which was published on September 18, 2025. The notification, issued by Dr. Jitendra Kumar Soni, Collector and District Magistrate, Jaipur, came into force immediately upon its publication in the Official Gazette. It was enacted under the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Rule 8.1 of the Rajasthan Motor Vehicles Rules, 1990, which are framed under the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988. The new regulations specify distinct maximum speeds in kilometers per hour for various vehicle categories: trolleys are limited to 50 kmph, trucks to 60 kmph, light goods vehicles to 60 kmph, medium/heavy passenger vehicles to 60 kmph, light four-wheelers to 70 kmph, three-wheelers to 50 kmph, and two-wheelers to 60 kmph. The legislation provided: “...vehicles' maximum speed limit, in the wider public interest and safety, is hereby determined with immediate effect for various categories of vehicles as indicated below.”

The revised speed limits are specifically stated to remain effective until the NH 148 (Manoharpur-Dausa section) is fully converted into a 4-lane Divided Carriage Way, indicating a forward-looking approach to traffic management that anticipates future infrastructure developments. The enforcement mechanism for these new limits is clear, with the notification stating that any non-compliance will lead to necessary action being taken under the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act and Rules.
